Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the net in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the final moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to complete a convincing penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past thirteen seasons.
